College of Overseas Education (COE) is responsible for Chinese-foreign cooperation in education (joint programs), international students (enrollment, cultivation and management), teams of teachers who deliver courses to international students on Chinese language and culture and joint cultivation program with foreign educational institutes.

For Chinese Students

COE has always been developing high-quality Joint Programs based on the strength of Nanjing Tech University (NanjingTech). It seeks to cooperate with famous foreign educational institutions so as to provide Chinese students with foreign educational resources and introduce advanced teaching and management experience.

So far, COE has cooperated with Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin, Ireland), the University of Sheffield (UoS, UK) and the University of Burgundy (UB, France) in joint programs. Now, it has five joint programs: one on master level with UB in Control Science and Engineering (Computer Vision) and the other four on bachelor level with TU Dublin in Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Electronic Engineering and Civil Engineering. Particularly, Mechanical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Science have been listed into high-level demonstrative construction project in Jiangsu Province. Besides, COE is devoted to providing more opportunity for students by working with relevant educational institutes and corporations home and abroad. For instance, it offers five joint cultivation programs ---- "2+2" bachelor program in Electric Engineering and Automatization, and Data Science with University of Queensland (UQ, Australia), "2+2" bachelor program in Accounting with Macquarie University (MU, Australia) and "1+2+1" bachelor program in Computer Science and Finance with Eastern Washington University (EWU, US).

Since 2008, the number of students enrolled in joint programs has reached 3090. Since 2012 when the joint program witnessed the graduation of the first batch of students, over 90% of the graduates have received offers for further study and 91.8% of those offers have been issued by top 200 universities in the world. By the end of 2021, 888 students have successfully applied for master degree study in world top 100 universities, including University of Cambridge, University College London, Imperial College London, Nanyang Technological University, Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Edinburgh, Columbia University in the City of New York and King's College London, etc. Based on the joint program, the university has started scientific research program and two professors have been subsidized by the provincial government for their projects.

For International Students

COE has also been dedicated to the course of "study in China" for international students. Since 1998 when it was qualified to enroll international students, NanjingTech has cultivated about 1000 international students of all kinds and levels over the past two decades. Those students come from Russia, UK, Germany, South Korea, US, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, South Africa, etc. In 2015, NanjingTech began enrolling international students who study for degree in large scale and was authorized to set up one test center for HSK. In 2016, it became one of the target universities of "Study in Jiangsu" program after approval. In 2018, it was qualified as one of the universities of "Talent Selection Program for International Students to Study in Jiangsu". In 2019, it was qualified as one of the 22 universities which passed quality certification of study in China organized by Ministry of Education (MoE). By the end of February 2022, the number of international students of all levels and all kinds has reached 676, over 90% of which study for degree.

COE actively expands ways of enrolling international students online and offline to optimize the component of international students. It takes part in the educational cooperation and exchange activities held by the China-ASEAN center, China Center for International People-to-People Exchange and China Centre for International Education Exchange. It also promotes the establishment of research institute of international people-to-people exchange for chemical and construction of the belt and road; establishes a joint cultivation program for international students with Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST); sets up eight bases of international student enrollment specially for diploma students to study for bachelor degree; improve its scholarship system, etc.

COE spares no effort to build up a team of brilliant teachers to teach Chinese to international students by introducing seven teachers with doctoral degree. Meanwhile, it offers diversified courses on Chinese language and culture, which are delivered by qualified teaching staff. So far, five courses for international students in NanjingTech have been listed as "Excellent Courses" in Jiangsu province.

For international students, COE has established a cultural training base with Jinling Library. It also has a softball team, dragon and lion dance team, Tai Chi team and offers abundant cultural activities on campus, such as "international cultural festival", "Chinese culture festival", "food festival", "I love learning Chinese", etc. All these have helped them fit in quite well and lead a better experience of studying and living in NanjingTech. The university also organizes students in the contest of articles and short videos based on the theme of "My Beautiful Encounter with China", holds quality expansion activities in summer holiday, offers psychological guidance for individuals and groups. All of these efforts have struck a responsive chord in the hearts of the students and helped them to have a better understanding of China and pass on stories about China. COE also helps the students to integrate into the community and makes contributions to the international course of the city of Nanjing. It encourages students to participate in the International Community Festival of Gulou District, the Belt and Road Youth Sports Exchange Week (Jiangsu) and so on. COE and its staff have won the honorary title of "Advanced Group of Staff for Study in Jiangsu" for many years in a row.

In the future, COE will keep building the brands of "joint program/cultivation" and "international students' cultivation" with its own features so as to cultivate talents with professional skills, global vision and cross-cultural communication skills. COE will contribute to the course of building NanjingTech into an entrepreneurial university with reputations at home and abroad.
