Cultivation Plan of Undergraduate Automation Program for International Students

I. Cultivation Goals

1. Cultivation Goals of the Major

The major is oriented to the needs of the society, and based on broad general education, it cultivates high quality automation engineering technical talents enjoying the coordinated development of knowledge, ability and quality, and having solid theoretical foundation in control engineering and strong engineering practice ability. Students have a solid engineering technical foundation and professional knowledge in a wide range of fields such as mathematics, electricity, control theory, automation instrumentation and devices, intelligent systems, information processing, etc. They have a strong ability to apply automation instrumentation, and the ability of automation engineering practice, automation product design and development, and automation system design and implementation. Students are able to deal with the work of automation system operation and maintenance, automation product development, control theory research, and project technology management in industry, academia and politics.

2. Competency Requirements for Graduation

(1) Have a solid foundation in the natural sciences and a good foundation in the humanities, arts and social sciences;

(2) Master the technical basic theoretical knowledge necessary for the field of this major, mainly including circuit analysis, computer principles, processor principles, etc.;

(3) Systematically master the knowledge of the direction of the major, including automatic control principles, sensor technology, controller technology, actuator technology, intelligent robotics, etc.;

(4) Have excellent learning ability and master efficient methods for independent learning of this major;

(5) Have strong ability to write project reports and scientific papers;

(6) Have strong ability to summarize and express knowledge or projects;

(7) Have strong comprehensive experimental ability, be able to skillfully operate the common circuits, detection, control instruments and meters of this major, and have strong ability of experimental program design and selection;

(8) Have strong ability to solve actual engineering practices, and be able to comprehensively analyze and solve problems that arise in the actual production of the automation industry;

(9) Have strong ability of engineering design, and be able to design perfect automation system solutions for production needs;

(10) Possess basic innovative thinking and practical ability, and be able to combine professional development and industrial needs to innovate and design practical solutions, and actively use new knowledge and ideas to solve problems;

(11) Have strong ability of literature search and access to information.

(12) Have an international perspective and keep informed of and understand the disciplinary frontier and development trend of the major.

Standard length of schooling: 4 years

Degree awarded: Bachelor of Engineering

IV. Basic Requirements for Graduation and Requirements for Degree Awarding

Basic requirements for graduation: Those who complete all the contents specified in the cultivation plan of the major within the specified period of schooling, acquire the required credits of various courses and the minimum 129.5 credits required for graduation, and meet the graduation requirements in morality, intelligence and physical fitness, will be allowed to graduate.

Requirements for the awarding of the degree: Graduates of this major who meet the relevant provisions of the Detailed Rules for the Implementation of Awarding the Bachelor's Degree of Nanjing Tech University will be awarded the Bachelor of Engineering degree.
