On the afternoon of March 18, foreign students in our college entered the Pukou Daxin Community to participate in volunteer service. The event was jointly organized by the Young Volunteers Association of Nanjing Tech University and Home Urgent Association of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine.

During the event, the volunteers worked in an orderly division of labor. Foreign students and volunteers accompanied the community residents to chat when they were waiting for diagnosis. Although the foreign students’ Chinese are not very good  and the elderly also have a strong dialect accent, as well as the two sides didn’t have a very smooth communication, every foreign student had tried their best to communicate with the elderly in Chinese and accompanied them patiently. Moreover, One of the elderly liked the students Nikita Ruban very much for his patiently company, although his Chinese was not very good. Volunteers Nargiz Kamalova could do some simple massage and also won the appreciation of the elderly. A simple greeting, a sincere smile could bring warmth to the elderly. In the joint efforts of everyone, the volunteer activities carried out very well.

The volunteer activities have achieved good results, volunteers provided clinic services for the 124 elderly people and won the appreciation of community residents. The elderly felt very happy to communicate with foreign students and hoped to a similar activity next time.
